Every Day We Fight: build Vivian for finishing opportunities

PC · EA template + Codex cross-check · Sources checked 2026-11-02

The short answer

Start with Kill Assist and Refiller Killer, then compare Assisted Boost with its mutually exclusive alternative. For area control, add Hologram and Combustive Decoy; for personal protection, follow Health Insurance into Protective Layer. Use only the routes that match your available SP and current cards.

Choose this template when the other Thorns can weaken targets and Vivian can take the finishing reaction. Its value depends on the setup and the kill condition, not simply equipping a high-damage rifle.

Reduce reload pressure after a finishKill Assist → Refiller KillerThe reaction must kill the Rifter for the free reload.
Add a damage reward to that finishRefiller Killer → Assisted BoostChoose against Trigger happy rather than assuming both are active.
Create a decoy hazardHologram → Combustive DecoyThe decoy makes oil; its destruction ignites that area.

Arrange the ally's shot and Vivian's follow-up

  1. Give Vivian an available Reflex, usable ammunition and a clear intended firing line.
  2. Have another Thorn weaken the chosen enemy. Avoid treating Vivian's own ordinary damage as the ally-trigger condition.
  3. Take the Kill Assist opportunity when offered and finish the target.
  4. If Refiller Killer is unlocked, check the equipped weapon's ammunition after the successful reaction kill.
  5. Reassess the board before placing a Hologram. Keep allies away from a planned oil/fire trap and preserve routes to the objective.

Use weapon and decoy choices as tools

The July 2025 DBLTAP template favors Longhaul because a successful free reload helps with its reload burden. That is a role-based suggestion for the older arsenal, not evidence that every 1.0 weapon or difficulty favors the same gun.

A Hologram is a distraction, not an unconditional shield for every ally. The burning-decoy route is useful only where the resulting surface helps the next actions. Decoys A Plenty and Soothing Warmth offer different follow-ups; read their exclusion before committing.

Keep the release reaction changes in view

The 1.0 notes increase Kill Assist sensitivity and allow switching weapons and fire modes during Kill Assist and Covering Fire. They also fix an enemy interaction with Holograms. These are release-context checks, not proof that every older threshold or build ranking is unchanged.

If it does not work

  • No Kill Assist prompt: check the ally-trigger setup, the enemy's remaining health and Vivian's available Reflex.
  • No free reload: damaging the enemy is not the same as killing it with Kill Assist.
  • The desired advanced skill is blocked: inspect the chosen alternative and predecessor.
  • The decoy creates an unsafe fire lane: change placement or use a different action rather than forcing the combo.

How to tell it worked

An ally-created finishing opportunity is resolved by Vivian; a successful Kill Assist kill triggers the purchased reload or damage benefit. Decoy or shield effects match the selected route.
