Every Day We Fight: choose a useful post-combat reward

PC · source-bounded Codex reference · Sources checked 2026-11-02

The short answer

Interact with the reward rift that appears after combat to bring in its chest. The published reference describes one choice from three random items, or the Scrap value of one if none is wanted. Compare the exact choices before selecting; the chest leaves after the selection.

Finishing a fight and taking its reward are separate actions. Check the post-combat rift before moving on, then compare the offered items against the squad's actual equipment.

Open, compare and select deliberately

  1. After the encounter resolves, locate and interact with the reward rift rather than assuming the reward was automatically taken.
  2. Read all offered item cards. Compare a part with the weapon it would actually fit.
  3. If one choice solves a current need, select that reward.
  4. If none helps, use the offered Scrap alternative and read the displayed value.
  5. Check the resulting inventory or Scrap balance. The reward chest leaving after the selection is expected behavior in this reference.

Rarity is only one part of the choice

The source links reward rarity to current Heat. It does not state that every Heat increase guarantees a particular rarity or item. A useful compatible part can be a better immediate choice than a rarer item that cannot help the current squad.

Choosing Scrap supports a later deliberate craft, but this page does not assign a fixed conversion rate or promise that every reward can be revisited. Read the choice shown before confirming it.

If it does not work

  • No reward chest appeared yet: interact with the actual rift after combat has completed.
  • The chest vanished after one selection: the reference describes that as the normal result, not three separate picks.
  • An expensive-looking mod cannot fit: inspect compatibility before choosing it next time.
  • Do not use a supposed universal Scrap conversion value when the current card displays a different amount.

How to tell it worked

One intended item or the offered Scrap value is received, with the inventory or currency change visible after the chest leaves.
