Every Day We Fight: work out why an epic perk did not trigger
Read the exact part, triggering event and rewarded next action together. Trigger the event with the Thorn carrying that weapon, then check the listed action before spending it. Do not substitute partial shield damage for a shield break or HP damage for an armor plate breaking.
The perk family name is not the complete rule. A magazine and stock carrying the same family label can give different next-action benefits.

Use the full item name
| Published item example | Required event | Reward in that card |
|---|---|---|
| Riff-tech Longhaul Mag — Armor Breaker | Break off an armor piece | Next shot is free. |
| Riff-tech Stock — Armor Breaker | Break off an armor piece | Next Punch is free. |
| Riff-tech magazine — Pain Gainer | Bring an enemy below 100 HP | Next Reload is free. |
| Riff-tech Stock — Pain Gainer | Bring an enemy below 100 HP | Next healing-item use is free. |
| Riff-tech Stock — Shield Buster | Shatter an enemy's shield | Next throwable-item use is free. |
Resolve the trigger and inspect the promised action
- Confirm that the intended part is actually equipped on the weapon being used.
- Read its complete condition and identify a target where that event can occur.
- Perform the required event with the equipped weapon's Thorn. Watch the armor, shield or health result rather than assuming any hit qualifies.
- Inspect the specific rewarded action's AP cost or availability before taking it.
- Use the benefit for a useful follow-up. If the card limits the effect to the next action or end of turn, do not plan an unlimited chain from one trigger.
Choose a perk your turn can consume
A free Punch is useful only when a usable melee follow-up exists; a free reload matters only when the equipped gun needs one. Compare the action you can actually take after the trigger, not just the rarity of the part.
The table is a set of named examples from the reference, not a complete 1.0 perk database or a guarantee that similarly named later parts share the same rule. Read the installed game's exact card if it differs.
If it does not work
- Armor took damage but did not break off: that is not the Armor Breaker event.
- A shield is only partly damaged: the listed Shield Buster condition requires it to shatter.
- The next shot was not free: confirm whether the equipped Armor Breaker is the magazine or the stock.
- A different Thorn made the qualifying hit: the card describes the wearer/weapon's trigger, not an automatic squad-wide reward.
How to tell it worked
The exact required event occurs and the correct next action shows the benefit described by the equipped item.
