Every Day We Fight: craft useful gear at the workbench
Use a workbench to craft available gear and weapon mods with Scrap. The published reference describes crafting discovered items; the official Craft Items screenshot also shows a three-item counter and locked entries with an Unlock prompt. Check that prompt rather than assuming a world discovery is the only way to make an item available. Choose useful compatible items and read the current cost before committing.
Start with the item you need, then check its availability, Scrap cost and the current crafting counter. A discovered item and a locked entry can show different availability checks.

Identify what is blocking the craft
| Current state | Next check | What should change |
|---|---|---|
| The wanted item is not available | Inspect its current discovery or Unlock requirement | Use the route actually offered by the current workbench; do not assume one exclusive unlock method. |
| The item is available but unaffordable | Compare its displayed cost with available Scrap | Choose a less expensive useful craft or return after collecting more Scrap. |
| The current three-item counter is full | Inspect the current UI for an available remove, continue or later-crafting option; do not assume a reset | Proceed only when the current UI actually shows capacity for another item. |
| The mod cannot help the carried gun | Read its compatibility and effects | Choose a matching part instead of spending only for rarity. |
Plan useful crafts around the next encounter
- List the immediate job: healing supplies, a useful throwable, or a part for a carried weapon.
- At the workbench, check its available items and any locked entry's requirement. This page does not promise that every weapon itself has a craft recipe.
- Select an available item, read its displayed cost and inspect the current three-item counter. The published reference describes crafting up to three items; it does not establish a multi-item confirmation queue.
- If planning several crafts, add their displayed costs and compare the total with available Scrap before spending.
- Confirm only the craft the current UI offers; inspect the result and remaining capacity before another. Equip or carry the resulting item for the next objective.
Use the current cost rather than a remembered price
IndieTome has a public crafting planner with a cost list, but its capture build is not declared. Its useful planning rule is to budget Scrap for the items you need; the installed game's own cost and confirmation remain the check before each craft.
A rare part for a gun you do not own may be less useful than immediate supplies. That is a planning choice: inspect compatibility and the next encounter before treating an expensive craft as an automatic upgrade.
If it does not work
- No recipe appears: check the current item filters and any Unlock requirement. The reference establishes crafting discovered items, but not that finding an item in the world is the only unlock method.
- Insufficient Scrap: choose a less expensive useful craft or return after collecting more Scrap.
- The new mod does not fit: follow its compatibility line before crafting another copy.
- Your build offers a different crafting limit or cost: follow its displayed confirmation and counter; the third-party reference does not establish every later build.
How to tell it worked
The intended available item is crafted, its actual Scrap cost matches the confirmation you accepted, and the result can be used or equipped for the planned job.
