Every Day We Fight enemy behavior checks
Every Day We Fight: deal with a Surgeon healing other Rifters
The enemy reference describes Surgeons sending a healing drone to injured allies and recalling it to recharge. Identify that support unit, then choose between finishing a target before another heal or removing the healing threat when you have a safe attack. Treat that priority as a tactical choice, not a guaranteed one-turn kill.
If an injured enemy regains health, first check whether a Surgeon is supporting it. That is a different event from a partially damaged energy shield regenerating.

Identify the recovered resource
| What you observe | Check | Why it changes the next action |
|---|---|---|
| Enemy HP rises after being wounded | Look for a Surgeon and its healing drone | Repeatedly spreading damage may leave targets alive for another heal. |
| An energy shield recovers | Read shield feedback | Use the shield-break guide instead of treating it as restored HP. |
| Other enemies receive shield support | Check for an Elite Surgeon | Its drone has an additional shield-support role in the reference. |
Choose a target you can finish
- Locate the Surgeon and the ally receiving support before committing the squad's remaining AP.
- Check sightlines, cover and shield state on the target you could realistically attack.
- If a wounded enemy can be finished safely now, concentrate enough damage to complete that finish rather than wounding several supported targets.
- If healing is repeatedly undoing progress, plan a safe attack on the support threat or a targetable drone rather than assuming damage alone disables the heal.
- Recheck the board after the action: confirm the target is defeated or that the support source has actually been removed.
Do not assume every medical-looking drone works identically
The source distinguishes ordinary and Elite Surgeons. It does not give a universal heal amount, recharge length, drone HP or a claim that destroying one drone permanently disables every future heal. Use the current unit and targeting feedback before spending the rest of a turn on an assumed timer.
A Surgeon also has its own shield. Planning an attack still requires the ordinary cover, shield and AP checks; the support label does not make it a free target.
If it does not work
- Health still returns: look for another support source and confirm whether the previous action only damaged the drone or Surgeon.
- The bar that recovered was a shield: use the correct defense guide.
- A drone cannot be targeted from the current position: fix the line of fire or choose another achievable action.
- Do not invent an exact recharge window from the drone's return animation.
How to tell it worked
The intended target stays defeated, or the identified support threat is removed and no longer supplies the observed recovery. Check actual unit states after the action.
